5. Torrey Pines – San Diego, CA
For the Historian
Torrey Pines. The name itself inspires thoughts of California’s towering, craggy cliffs and the nearly indescribable views off San Diego’s renowned coastlines, not to mention the wild beauty of the indigenous trees that inspired the famous course’s name. We chose the Southern California course for the historians among us, because Tiger’s last major US Open win before “the incident” occurred here, and the possibility of walking in the famous golfer’s footsteps is nothing if not a conversation piece! Additionally, the La Jolla course is a well-known PGA Tour stop, and hosts the Buick Invitational every February.
